A Letter From Our President

Beginning January 17th, 2010, "snow or shine", we begin our fourth decade of winter chamber music in Blue Hill. Each concert begins at 3pm on Sunday afternoon at the First Congregational Church in Blue Hill, on Tenney Hill, just up from the library.

Now, with shorter days and longer nights upon us, it's time to consider giving your friends and families a holiday gift of a series subscription. This 2010 Season is perhaps unlike any other. In the past decades, there has always been a loyal donor base to depend on. These past five years have seen that base erode, as many of our loyal and founding patrons have passed on. We need, as never before, to recover what we've lost, celebrate what we have, and to discover, serve and secure a larger audience. It is not just a sensible plan, but it is essential for the continuation of the Blue Hill Concert Association.

We're asking you to please consider any of the following: offering a contribution if you must; subscribing if you can; coming to a concert or two; letting us know if you have friends that would like to be put on our mailing list. Any small or large act will be appreciated, and will help sustain us. The BHCA has been around for 32 years, bringing to our peninsula and surrounding areas the finest chamber music that you can hear, anywhere.

To maintain our standards, and to work responsibly within our budget, the board has decided to offer four concerts this year. We're happy to be able to bring you this outstanding line-up:

Sunday, January 17, Jennifer Grim, Bridget Kibbey, flute and harp.
Sunday, February 7,  Jean-François Latour, Andrée-Anne Perras-Fortin, a mix
           of four-hand and solo piano.
Sunday, February 28, The Biava String Quartet. If you like, catch them again
on Monday when they'll be playing for one of our local schools.
Saturday, March 13, Master class with Triple Helix artists, piano, violin, cello.
Sunday, March 14, Triple Helix, piano trio.

For details about each concert and its musicians, please check out our website www.bluehillconcerts.org that we have expanded dramatically in the hope that this will make the association and the concerts more accessible to you. We have never had to cancel a concert till last year when the combination of a blizzard and a last minute canceled flight, did it in. This year, you will be able to consult our website if you have any last minute concerns or questions.

We count on your support, but we in no way take it for granted. All donations are fully tax-deductible. We are a volunteer organization with no paid staff. All of your donations go towards programming.

Thank you for your support, and for taking the time to consider joining us for Sunday afternoons of music.

Sincerely yours,

Dee Knisley, President
